How long has the Jean Bâton brand existed?
Jean Bâton mayonnaises have been available since 2013.
I can’t find your products at my supermarket. What should I do?
You can find Jean Bâton at the supermarkets listed here – just click and order directly from your favourite retailer.
We’re working hard to bring Jean Bâton mayonnaises and dressings to more UK supermarkets. Can’t find it at your local store? Ask the manager to stock it or let us know!
What makes a sauce qualify as mayonnaise?
To be called mayonnaise, a sauce must meet strict criteria. Not all sauces labelled mayonnaise are technically mayonnaise. Today, the European industry has agreed that mayonnaise must be an oil-in-water emulsion containing at least 70% fat and at least 5% egg yolk. Products like lighter mayonnaises with less fat do not meet these standards and cannot be marketed as mayonnaise.
What is the shelf life of mayonnaise?
The expiration date on our jars of mayonnaise is the date until which we think the mayonnaise tastes best when stored under normal conditions (cool and dark)
Why does the brand have a French name if it’s actually Dutch?
Our mayonnaises are named after Jan Stok, whose recipes inspired them. We chose the French version of his name, Jean, because we think it has a lovely ring to it. Plus, it’s heartwarming to know that Jean (or Jan) was so admired for his delicious sauces!
Do Jean Bâton Mayonnaises and Dressings contain allergens?
Many of our products contain mustard and eggs, and occasionally other allergens. For specific allergen information, please check the product overview or the packaging.
Can I eat your products if I am pregnant?
Yes, all Jean Bâton mayonnaises and dressings are made with pasteurised egg yolk, making them safe to consume during pregnancy.
